How a Lightning Faucet tournament works, step by step
1. Fund the balance
Tournament buy-ins are paid from your Lightning Faucet balance, not from an external wallet at the moment of entry, so the balance has to exist first. Three routes get you there. Tie-breaks and other edge cases
Ties are broken by who finished first. Standings sort by score descending, then by completion time ascending. Two players with identical scores are separated by whoever completed their best entry earlier. If you have posted a strong score, finishing your run early is worth something.
Unused spins expire. Entries still active when the window closes are completed where they stand.
Re-buys never lower your standing. Covered above, but it bears repeating because it is the single most common misunderstanding about the format.
Your score is not your winnings. A 3,000-point score does not mean you won 3,000 sats. It means your virtual spins returned the equivalent of 3,000 sats, which is your position on a ladder. What you are paid is your share of the pool, determined by where that ladder position finishes.
Verifying any tournament spin yourself
Every spin in every tournament is provably fair, and the verification is not a marketing claim — the inputs are stored per spin and you can reproduce the result offline.
The scheme is a standard commit-reveal:
- Server seed. We generate a random server seed and publish its SHA-256 hash to you before you play. We are committed to that seed from that moment; changing it would change the published hash.
- Client seed. You set this to anything you like. Because you choose it after seeing the server seed hash, we cannot have selected a server seed that produces favourable results against your specific client seed.
- Nonce. A counter that increments by one on every spin, so the same seed pair produces a different result each time.
Each outcome derives from those three inputs:

How to actually check a result
Every tournament spin is recorded with its client seed, its nonce and the server seed hash that was in force. While a server seed is live it stays secret, because revealing it early would let anyone compute future outcomes. When you rotate your seeds, the old server seed is revealed and archived to your seed history along with the nonce range it covered. At that point you can take any spin you played under it, recompute the combined hash with your own tooling, and confirm it matches what the game paid. Each table holds its own server seed with a published hash, players contribute a client seed, and the nonce advances once per hand. Because the seed is committed in advance and the nonce only moves forward, no future hand can be searched for a favourable deck.
Getting your winnings out
